  • Replacing the 4 inch speakers?

My Speakers are old and destroyed in the back of my festy
What brand would be a good buy for those back speakers and would you even mess with the stock sized 4 inch or move up to 6 by 9's?

What did some of you guys do with your system in the back according to the 4inch stock area for speakers?

You can modify bigger 5 1/4's to fit in the stock space.

I have 4 of these in the stock locations.

They sound MUCH better than the junk my car came with.

They lack bass though. I need a sub.

here are some pics of it... there is 2 6.5" clairon in the factory spot where the 4 inch ones go, 2 6.5" panasonic's in a custom ply wood cargo shelf, 2 6.5" alpine's in the doors and 2 ok (princess auto) 4" ones in the dash in the factory spot. all those are run off the deck and then there is 2 6x9" sony ones in boxes behind the seats running off of a 240 watt princess auto amp i didnt have them in the car when i was taking the pics i forgot to get them out of my friends shop when i left all my int. there when i went racing... anyways here are some pics...

so what would need to be done for 5 1/4 to fit without changing stock housing?

well you cant fit them with out changing the stock housing... you have to cut it up a bit i found that the 5.25 inch ones where to small and there was nothing to hold up one side of the speaker... the 6.5 inch ones had a hole that i put a yap strap through to hold them up, i know it sounds bad but i havnt had any problems with it
