  • Subwoofer Deck

Hey! Dunno if anyone saw in my posts earlier, but I'm makin' a subwoofer box where the rear deck goes. I'll put all pics of the build on here if anyone's interested. I was going to use 8" but I've decided to throw my TS-W 26C's in there (10" Pioneer) instead! 2 10's should look pretty Hotwheels in the back deck... I hope to have it loaded and ready for Festiva Madness 2009.

Will do! It may be a few weeks, as I'm moving to a new place, but it's top of my list, so make sure to get emails of this feed.

Definately wood and carpet, but I would like to try a fiberglass one sometime. I need to go to a workshop or something to teach me how.

It's not horribly difficult, just takes some patience. In most setups, I would suggest pressboard and carpet over fiberglass. Fiberglass, in my opinion, should be saved for show cars.

I agree. The only real reason I would try and use fiberglass is to make the box lightweight so as not to add too much to the strain on the rear suspension. I imagine the box would weigh in at around 30-40 lbs with all equipment and trimmings.

A propperly tuned 8 sounds great in the festy - I used to run a 10 and it was just too much for that little car - the rear will resonate the base if you keep the rear windows shut. two tens will just rattle the hatch door. what I like about the 8 is it gives awesome response inside but doesnt have that anoying car rattling sound most systems do.

I had thought about an 8, and I will build an 8'' version too, but I figured adding some dynamat should solve the vibration problem. Part of the design requires that the box be mounted to the sidewalls of the rear cargo area. I'll probably build the box Wednesday, or at least get it started. Pics to follow!

Oh, side note... I have 2 8'' 50w subs, but I was looking at a DVC driver from Dayton at partsexpress.com. Anybody ever use a Dayton driver?

I have a single 8 behind my drivers seat. I like 8s cause they are lighter than larger ones.

I have a 10shallow mount kicker under passenger seat , had to modify the back and forth cable for seat adjustment and the kicker amp mount to the under side of driver seat and 4 kicker ds40s in stock spots it sounds perfect and is all out of sight . Only if i were to do again i would put the sub under driver seat and amp under passenger ,
although the ladies in the passenger love the vibration form the sub how it is ahahaha

i had a 10 in a home made ported box that was powered by a 400w hifonics amp. since i dont have that car anymore so im sellin the subs. although i did buy an aspire im not puttin a sound system in it unless i can find a high output alternator for it since my last system toasted the alternator.
