  • Need some stereo help, bigger speaker fitment

Looking to do the whole stereo soon and was hoping to go a little bigger than stock. Anyone fit 5.25s in the front dash where the stock speaker sits?

And anyone know where i could get the whole system cheap?
Need a headunit, 5.25 fronts(if fit), 6x9 rear maybe in hatch or speaker box. $200 total im looking spend.

    found these

5.25's up front would take some mod work to the bracket and dash- someone on here has done it i recall....
i ended up keeping the 4's all around but much higher quality and wattage.

You shouldn't have any problems fitting those on the door panels. Get 2 sets and use them on the back too. Then spend the rest on a good gently-used name-brand headunit and you are good to go under $200.

i want some bass, and those wont cut it especially not in a box. And i dont want to put them in the door.

might get some 6x9 boxes and put them in the rear corners.

Thinking that walmart special they have for around 100 with headunit and 4 speakers might be the best bet.

I can tell you that 6x9's wont fit in the rear trays without a spacer, but with some modification, you can put 5x7's in. I got a set of Sony 300 watt 5x7's at walmart for like $40 and they sound pretty good back there. As far as fitting 5.25 in the dash, I would think that would look pretty cobbled IMO. You can get 4" 150 watt speakers that fit nicely in there for like $25 at walmart.

Here is my rear 5x7 sony's in place and hooked up.

that looks okay, but seriously do you get any bass with it being open?

I get enough to shake the rearview mirror if it is up loud enough, but I plan on adding some subs and an amp later. Not too bad for the price. I had to put some sheet metal over my trays because the p.o. cut the hell out of them to try to fit in 6x9's that didn't end up working out... in case you were wondering about the hole and the 2 screws in the tray.

Id say keep the 4's all around for mids and highs and get a small sub (8"ish) in a decent box for the back for all your bass.

If you want bass get a sub. You really won't get much out of walmart speakers. bhazard has the right idea if you want to use the stock speaker location. I would rather get good quality used stuff than not-so-good new stuff. Then again, the Festiva is so small that you will fill it with sound with anything except the stock junk. It all depends how well you want it to sound.

Infinity speakers $70/pr @ Best Buy stock size. Probably best if you want box new. 4 of those run with bass blocker filters and an 8" bazooka tube in the rear will have you smiling.

With a little work you can get 5.25s to fit in back. I was going to try to fit them up front as well, but didnt want to bang stuff around to do so.
There are spots in the doors for speakers as well. You do have to watch the mount depth or they will interfere with the glass.

go to parts-express .com and get 4 high pass filters part # 266-456 @ $15 each. then wire them in before your 5.25s and 6.5s, the tweets should have their own built in filter. set your sub amp for a 70Hz low pass to round out the bottom end.

Any good component speakers will come with crossovers which limit (or block) the lower frequencies to improve speaker efficiency. The speakers you had on that previous link come with crossovers. You will get mids for sure and they are fairly inexpensive.
