  • SPL ?

    hi,

I have just installed a new earthquake system in my KIA, and its currently the only one on the island with that amount of sound, and it have become actually one of the best listening audio. Does anyone have any installations for SPL ? i am going to have a run with the meter, although i didn't install the system for SPL competition,. but I'm going to give it a try at listening music.

Does anyone have SPL results on a pride yet?

I did in my first Festiva 91 a 136.6dBs without any bass test. No distortion or noise either.
Is that a Festiva that just passed me?!?!?!

funny you should post this thread, as i bought a pride just for the purpose of having another slp car.

the last car i had was 1990 corolla and hit 154dB with 4 15"s in a wall. but in the pride things are going to be a bit different and hope to hit a lot higher.

i've stripped the interior but haven't started the build yet.

as the work progresses i'll post some pics. it'll be 3 15"s in a wall.

lets just hope she holds together

soon i'll be getting a kicker 1500.1 amp which i beleive puts out around 1800 rms, my subs can take total of 1500rms and my amp now i was told puts out around 1000 rms but i think it's less than that) so my system should get twice as loud, hoping to hit high 140's if not (with some luck) low 150's, then next will be a lot better box, bigger alternator, optima battery......... i may try dj's idea and mount a second alt. but time will tell

mine isnt anything special. 90 lol. l know, but its a single 10 (memphis PR) running off an alpine v-power pushing 350 rms. next week though, im trading in the 10" for a 15" PR. that or i might just save up for a 15" mojo and a 4k amp. that would give me around a good 150 dbs give or take. if you are familliar with the mojo, you know quallity bass and you get what you pay for (250 oz magnet at $850!) the amp at 4000 rms, by far the best amp memphis has made. 1850 may be woth it. major saving up. new alternator, battery. to go with the bass how ever, i will need SQ. new speakers, 4" memphis speakers in the front, 4" component kit in the back, memphis mojo 6x9 in a box to put in the back seat and a 4 ch. amp to push the 4" fronts and the 6x3 backs. should be a good system, considering itll be almost $4000, not including the dynamating. phew.

Mine has real decent sound quality.. But mine is a Heinz-57. 2 Alpine amps, 3 fosgate amps.. my actual rms with all amps added up would be something like 4150. I found out something though... If you have a sunroof, don't bump in the rain..

my buddy josh has 2 12" mojos with 2 2000 watt mojo amps in his neon and it kills his trunk. the seal is broken and hes afraid to take it in the rain becasue of the fact water will leak in and ruin his sound system.

at least I didn't ruin anything.. water was running down the front of a 7.2 screen before I realized it and turned it down.. luckily I had a sweatshirt to hold back the water until I could pull off the sunroof and dry the seal off..
