If you want that many speakers, get 3-way components for the front and back. Then you'll only need a 4-channel amp. And if you get a MaxxBass for your front woofers, you won't need a sub.OscarComment

power doesn't kill speakers, dirty signal does. i'd be willing to bet $$ that i can run 300w through the 5.25s without damaging them (using a good amp), and then kill them with a cheap headunit.Trees aren't kind to me...

Trying to force bass out of small speakers will kill them too. I popped one of my new 4" speakers trying to get more bass out of them.Festiva: Because even my dog can build a Honda.

It's not a dirty signal that kill a speaker, it's clipping. Too much power above the rated speaker power will do that too.OscarComment

^true, but in the case of a prototype Jackhammer, it took 10,000 OVER it's rated handeling (5,000w) before it quit. (all clean signal mind you, using low freq pink noise and sine sweeps)Trees aren't kind to me...
