  • got a strange problem with new install

Just had a new stereo installed yesterday . new speakers , new amp the whole nine yards. Got stopped on the way home from work , no tail lights. After looking at it today I noticed some thing else . as I didnt have it on last night on my way home I didnt see it then . when ya turn the light on the stereo goes off and it blows the tail light fuse . any Ideas ? the guy that installed it is gone until monday , and by then I will be out of town for a bit . Thanks for any help

sounds like something is shorting out. (One of the connections are most likely shorting), which would make alot of sense. I would suggest going through the main connections, starting with the cd player, and find out if he tapped into the Tail fuse for power.

Isn't the "tail" fuse used for lighting the instrument panel as well? It sounds like the "illumination" wire on the cd player is grounding.

It seems that ALOT of people are having problems with that fuse because it is very improperly labelled.
