  • Need some opinions..

hey all, so I am pulling the festy out of storage soon and I am going to start on the interior...

I want some opinions on whether I should put the sub in the hatch area using the spare tire area and building a false floor to house everything..... or building a custom center console and mounting the sub in a box right up front under the center dash area.... both ideas are do able with mdf and some time but I just don't know how the sound will be if I mount the sub up front instead of in the back....

IMO on a hatch it should always be mounted in the back facing the hatch. I have seen some really nice regular cab truck with subs mounted in the center that sound good but I think there is too much room in the back and the sound would be too high pitched. Yet again this is just my experience.....

I thought of putting one in the tire well years ago, but where would you put your spare then? Me, I thought of getting the holder from the back of a Jeep, or something similar, and putting it on the back of the car....

thanks... well I think I am going to mount the sub in the spare tire hole, put the battery on one side and the amp on the other side and then a false floor hinged at the back of the rear seat. I am gonna carpet the false floor and have it so it covers everything if I can... That way just looking back there all you will see is a nice smooth floor... If it goes together as nicely as it looks in my head i think I will even add a cubby under the floor for the compressor, tire sealant, and whatever else.... hmmm
