  • radio but no gauge lights

hey guys i hooked up my radio n now my gauge lights don't work, any ideas?

My guess would be that you shorted out the "illumination" wire when hooking up the radio. If so, there is a fuse that should have blown. Check your fuses and get back to us.

Drawing too much current for that fuse.

Didn't think the radio harness was on the gage cluster light circuit.
Don't have my wiring diagrams with me to check.

You might want find another +12v line for the radio or run a dedicated fused line direct to the battery.

This wire runs on the same fuse as the lighting. It should not draw too much current unless it is grounding out. This should not keep the radio from working however. This would only keep the lights from coming on. Are you saying that the radio stops all together? If so, I think you have the 12+ volt wire switched with the illumination wire, which would cause it to stop working all together.

Does your radio have a dimmer feature? If not, did you cap off the wire in the car's harness that is 12v hot when lights are on? It's green on my 89.
