  • Some help?

I have a '94 Aspire and the sound system is horrible. I am looking to update it but I do not have any clue as to the quality of certain brands and the like so I came here for some help.

I am looking to spend between $500-600. I tried pricing a system out through parts on ebay and I came up with 2 10" boxed mtx subs @ 300w, 4x100w speakers, head unit, and 2 amps for around $500.

I just want to get the most bang for my buck and I would like to see what the more experienced users on here have to say. If you would price a system out for me with model numbers I would really really appreciate that.

If you want excellent sounding speakers go here: www.kcautosound.com and use the db drive speed series. I put the 5.25" speed series in my 94 backed by a pioneer stereo and they are clear clear up to 23-25 (almost the max on the volume). They don't have much bass but if you get their biggest 4-channel amp and run the 4 speakers and one 10" sub, total 200w to the four and 200w to the sub might do it. I'm going to buy the smallest amp and a 10" to supplement it soon. I've used pioneers, infinitys and sony's and these are the clearest most natural i've heard, and they're alot stronger built than those brands as well. Also this guy is excellent in the customer service and don't hesitate to call him with questions, in fact if you do order from him he may call you just to verify the order... not all of his products are on the website yet. I'm not affiliated with him but good customer service is hard to come by so I recommend him when I can.

Oh and the stock speakers are 6" a off sized speaker offered by foreign brands. I used 5.25" but you can put 6.25 easily in the rear but I don't know about the fronts that is if you wish to use something bigger.

You're stuck with 4" in the front. I've tried other sizes with no luck.

However, the doors have holes for speakers in them (remove the panels). Haven't investigated that yet but I plan on it down the road.

Ok, I found this site and they have decent prices so I am going to get my system through them.

I have a question about the compatability between the amps I have picked out and the speakers.

              The subs:

Would it work with this amp? http://www.caraudiodeals.com/product...roducts_id=364
The subs work on 2 Ohm Mono @ 300w and that is what the amp will put out at 2 Ohms. What does mono mean though? The amp doesn't say anything about mono or stereo and I really don't know what it means anyway.

              The speakers:

The speakers are 200w @ 4 Ohms. Also having trouble picking out an amp.

Which would put out 2 x 200w @ 4 Ohms, but it says it is 2 Ohm stereo stable. It doesn't say anything about 4 Ohm. Does this matter?

I just don't understand the stereo/mono specifications for the amps and speakers.

I didn't feel like waiting for a reply so I just bought some stuff and am hoping it won't blow up when I put it together. Anyway I thought I would post what I bought.

                Audiobahn AS69Q 6" x 9" 200W RMS 3-Way Speakers powered by
Lanzar VIBE226 2 Channel 800W Viberant MOSFET Amplifier.
These speakers will be in boxes I make. I am going to use the old speakers in the back as a shelf for these.

Audiobahn AS15N 5-1/4" 60W RMS AS Series Speakers powered by the head unit. These will go in the doors.

JVC KD-G220 CD Player w/ MP3, WMA Playback KDG220 head unit.

Audiobahn ABV105Q Dual 10" 600W RMS Ported Bass Box w/2 Subs powered by Audiobahn A8000T 800W Mono Intake Series Amp. These will be behind the back seat.

The total with shipping came to $510 so it was in my price range and I think I will be happy with the sound.

I do have one last question though. Do you think that the 800w amp will overpower the 600w subwoofers? In other words, wreck them? I couldn't find anything on the internet about it. The only thing I found said that underpowering was much more common. I saw a few systems being sold that were underpowered by 200w so I figured overpowering it by 200w was ok. I couldn't find an amp that put out 600w @ 2 Ohms mono in my price range. Like I said, I do not know much about speakers.

Overpowering don't kill a sub distortion does. You should be fine. I've always wonder about audiobahns let us know how it sounds.
