Amp$ and woo00oofers

Disclaimer- Sorry I rambled! More of just getting my thoughts out there. Looking for opinions though!

So currently I have been bouncing back and fourth between my Rockford Fosgate p3 12" sub and my 8" Kicker (NOS tube) sub. Surprisingly the Kicker sub sounds better with my amp setup, which is an eclipse 5 channel and I'm not even sure the model/RMS Ratings etc. Then a waves maxx bass 101.

My sister just got a Scion Xb and it had subs and two amps in it. I have an opportunity to buy her stuff for probably $150 and then I'll just sell my stuff to my younger brothers friend for more.

So possible new setup-

Two rockfordfosgate P2 8" subs (in nice box). 150 RMS a piece
A bridgeable 2 channel Boss Ch550. 125 rms per channel
Then another Boss amp- I haven't gotten a good look at it yet but i think it is a 4 channel.
It's all brand new.

Which setup should I go with!? I'm leaning towards my sisters. I think the smaller amp will suit the two 8's well. Plus the 4 channel seemed much smaller than my current eclipse under the passenger seat so that would be nice . I'm not really a sub guy but I love music and hearing it all in good quality. So I'm looking more for quality but I still love some bass sometimes!

Anyone had any experience with those subs or amps?

I'd definantely say go for your sisters setup. I'm all about making money for upgrading my car and I know you are too . The low watts and quality products you'll be using will sound great too!!!!!And also will not put a huge strain on your charging system!

Go with your sisters system! I have a kicker comp 12 in my festy with a 800 watt amp, swapped it all out for my friends box with two 8's, needless to say it sounded better in the car and took up less space.

That's what I was thinking. I always need someone to give me that extra assurance it's a good idea :p

Although my stuff might be worth a bit more brand new and slightly more used I think it might be worth it. It will save lots of space and have a good matching amp to sub setup.

I'll take pics later today of what I'm getting! My sister is bringing her Xb so I can rewire all the speakers and get it back to stock-ish. The scion is sweet too! Reminds me of the festy a bit.

It's funny what time will do to a hobby of yours. I have been a custom audio guy for 20 years. Worked at several shops and have quite a few trophies from back in the hayday of audio: early 80's - late 90's. Built a car that hit 155Db when 157 was the world record. Built a car that made it into the Iasca finals when it was invite only in the Pro 101-250 class.

All that and I can't find it in me to give you a totally correct answer. But i'll try.

Given the space in a Festy and your overall total system volume capability no matter which way you put it together I would opt for the 2 P2 8's and the Boss 2ch amp. You will still greatly overpower the stock speakers in power and sound quality (so long as the woofers have the peoper box volume). The stock speakers have no separation between the front and rear waves the speaker makes. That is the sole reason they sound like crap even when you put in nicer ones (the front and rear waves are 180* out of phase with eachother meaning that most of your lower frequencies will be canceled out, actually moving well into the vocal range). That and the fact the front ones are way off axis to you. I can't remember if you had spkrs put into your doors.

The P2's imho have the best quality sound even over Rockfords T1 and T2 line. They just don't have the output.

I had a really decent system in my old silver car. But it really showed the burnout I currently feel (half done really nice the other half sucked). My next car will have a one amp 3 channel system with a single 8" and 6.5's in the door. Remember simpler is better when you dd it.

i got two rockford fosgate p1's (300watt-150RMS) and a power acoustik 800watt amp in mine with 6 guage power wire. the amp pushes out 150RMS at 4-ohm which is what my subs call for and that mixed with my alpine headunit shake building windows as i drive by
