  • alternator options

i was reading some older threads about audio setups, and was looking at alternator options and alot of people said to do a protege swap, i dont know if it was the only couple i looked at but they were only 65 amps, i got to searching and found an rx7 alternator, looks exactly like the mounting of a protege/festiva alternator...

    heres a ebay link

Would a 88 tracer have the 90 amp in it?
Im not driving a Festiva because I'm poor. I drive a Festiva because i want to!

                    Depends ,

The 3.2 auto 93-95 is 120A and the model is different then the MTX ones. This is a mitsubishi unit and they are not cheap.

the 3.0 MTX is the same for 89-91 and 92-95 its another one , and I believe the later one has more amps....This is a ford unit.

hmm... then maybe what I have is off a Probe. It was labeled '89 SHO in our parts room. It has an '89 part#, is definately a Mitsu unit, stamped 90A...

I just looked on rockauto , and I think you are right , the 90 amps seems to be mitsubishi. and the later 130 amps - Ford. For them MTX. The ATX was always a Mitsu , 120 Amps.

This is the 90 amps it should look like.

ding, ding, ding!!! We have a winner! Yup, that's it. Mine has no pulley, but the Festy/Aspire pulleys seem to fit nicely.
