I made these about a month ago to fill the unusable space in the pockets of the cargo area. Whenever i do anything i always try to make it similar fit and finish to oem with a slight aftermarket flair. I bought the subs about 4 years ago and had the idea from about 2001 just never executed it. I know to get the purest and most efficient sound they need to be completely sealed but for my needs they sound plenty deep and punchy. I filled the enclosure with acoustic poly fill to slow the frequencies by artificially increasing the enclosure volume. They are run by two individual pioneer 350w amps, left channel under left seat and right channel under right seat. My pioneer radio has an 8 band equalizer and hpf so I was able to dial in a nice balanced sound to the pioneer door and quarter speakers with all the lows to the subs. I currently am making protective grilles and a soft inside tonneau cover to hide them as it is now a 2 seater.

The subwoofer boxes are pretty cool, but I have a feeling that you're going to have a huge amount of rattle from your rear panels. I'd recommend going to a junkyard, sourcing another set of rear panels, paint them to match, cut out the section that the subwoofer box goes, and make a complete, enclosed box that you've bolted to the floor and rear of the car, as well as use 1/2" L brackets mounted to the box behind where the panel meets the box to run screws through the paneling to hold everything together. Adding sound deadening material like carpet padding will help you immensely as well. I've always thought that that location would be an awesome place to have the subwoofers. I'm glad to see someone's done it!In love with a MadScientist!:thumbright:

A few of the photos make it appear that the lines aren't straight or the fit is crooked, it's the angle of the camera, everything is symmetrical and flush. The tops of the boxes do angle down equally towards the front and center.
Thanks for lookin.Tim

nice
ill use your location, for a pair of old fisher 12 inch speakers. i make boxes with wood. use cardboard templates for top and bottom, plywood, for face. only other way,to mount them,is to replace , cut away the 2 plastic formed corners, replace with flat plywood panels. i took seats out, awhile ago,and those back ends that stick out where u,mounted your sp. really serve no purpose. still your way is easier.and looks clean and mean. mdoyleufo@gmail.com

That's pretty nice looking, if you could find a way to actually seal the boxes tho you would get way better sound, even a little pinhole in a subwoofer box makes a big difference, you've got more than just a pinhole.. you should post this on fordaspire.com too, those guys would really like this idea, you should see what pinktiva did there with fiberflassLast edited by zoom zoom; 11-29-2011, 03:40 PM.2008 Kia Rio- new beater

I've heard of less air speaker. Never free air speaker.
Did some research and should be good. Just don't get as deep of bass.Last edited by Flyin4stroke; 11-29-2011, 07:42 PM.1988 Ford Festiva "Sonic" BPT g25mr MS2 standalone ecu, FOTY '11, Best Beater FMV, Fan Favorite FMVI
