I installed a radio in my car yesterday and when my car is running the left front speaker gets a high pitch humming like its my rpms making the noise, when my car is not running but on the radio is crysatl clear. What makes this happen?
Is one of the wires touching something and i makes that noise?

Did you use the factory wiring for everything? Id recheck all connections and make sure no bare wires are touching anything. Make sure you have speakers hooked up correctly. + side to + side, - to -. It makes a difference.

If you hear the revs through the speaker, it is 100% NO DOUBT a ground issue. You need a better ground. Use a self tapping screw and make a new ground to be sure.

Technically there IS a difference, however you'd NEVER hear it under normal circumstances. Unless you are running speakers in a super close space (Such as in a bandpass box with two subs sharing only one air chamber, like I have in my hatch). If you are running a run of the mill Pioneer deck from Walmart, you are NEVER going to be able to hear a difference if you run your speaker in or out of phase. And running speakers in/out of phase would NEVER have anything to do with hearing the revs through the speaker.

Hey I started with the basics. Things Id check. After that I wouldnt know what to do, so Id call my brother who installs stereos. Its obvious that you know something more about stereos than I do. So how bout helping him with his problem instead of critiquing my answer to him. Hmmm

I did give him an answer. It's the ground to your stereo. You just stated to "Make sure you have speakers hooked up correctly. + side to + side, - to -. It makes a difference." I just explained that it really doesn't. And yes, I did full electronic installs on highway patrol cars for a few years. I was just trying to help.

Once you have done stuff like this, car stereos are easy. It's all like legos, and most electronics issues in the world, can be traced to a problem with the ground.

So YOUR to blame for people getting pulled over! It's all your fault! (If lights don't work the red and blues don't flash Haha)

I've heard of noise comming from wires too, if the insulation isn't thick enough, but I doubt that's the case here.

Youd be surprised how many times I've seen blinkers, horns, lights, etc not work because of a ground on a light bar. UGH. I grew an honest hatred for the interior of a Dodge Charger doing that job.
