  • head light shorts out radio?

When I bought my festiva it didnt have a radio. When I installed one, it shorts out whenever I turn the dash lights and or headlights on. It even shorts out sometimes when I use the blinker, or hit the brakes. I installed the radio correctly, so this must have happened to the previous owner as well. Does anybody have an idea what wire(s) to check, or have any idea at all as to what the hell is going on? It's really boring driving with no radio every night....

Run a new hot wire to the radio and use a different hot point and see what happens. If your radio don't short out, then you know the old wire is shorting out on a ground somewhere.

Thanks guys, it ended up that the radio was ground into this cube thing with 3 outlets (could this be the dimmer you guys were talking about). I just took the wire and strapped it to a bolt on the dash and put a nut over it. Now it works at all times, and it is much, much louder!

            Thanks alot!!!
