  • Cadence Audio sub and Alpine speakers?

I'm currently running a Kenwood HD548 Headunit and 2.5 Kicker DS40's that have no Bass whatsoever. I'm looking to upgrade and a local shop suggested some Alpine SPS610C components for the door holes and tweeters mounted to the factory dash location. I'm not worrying about rear speakers right now, but I would like a small sub in the back that won't take up too much space. I've looked at some of the tube type loaded enclosures but they're too long and would either require the removal of the rear seat or mounting them to the spare tire cover. What I have found is a Cadence 10" sub http://www.cadencesound.com/fxb10cl/ Does anybody have any experience with Cadence, and/or suggestions on an amp? (the door speakers will just run off of head unit power.
    Thanks

there are others that i would recomend from this company but they would be used units.

Thanks for the tip, I was a little confuzzled on amp stuff but I think the mono amp makes things easy.
I'm a little hesitant to look at used audio in the area mostly because a lot of it's stolen.
I was talking to some friends and they had some decent enough experience with Cadence stuff so I'll probably order all of this after graduation (this saturday) and I'll be able to get over to the mainland in the next week or two and get it installed.

i rather doubt you'll find a STOLEN Soundstream unit, they're rare enough in the car audio community, and most people i know who have units from that manufacture wont give them up (kinda like old Orion or Extant units).

Well I just did a quick search on the CL and there was only one Soundstream Amp for sale, an older 6 channel monster that is probably bigger than the rear seat. So I'll probably go with that Picasso Nano 450 watt that you recommended, and I found some MTX 6.5" components for cheaper than the Alpines http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...MTX_TNS65.aspx I've had a couple friends who said good things about MTX. After graduation this weekend I'll give the stereo shop a ring and see if this will be any different cost than what they quoted me in April to install.

What about slim subs? This is what I have in mine. Doesnt take up any space and in my opinion, gives the festiva nice bass to compliment the speakers inside. Has a built in amp so it is all you would need.

The stereo shop I talked to was saying that a lot of times the low profile subs like that don't last as long because they heat up more internally. I had originally looked to get one of those, but then they suggested some of the bass tubes like Bazooka Tubes. The only problem was that they were too long to go in the back.

I second the slim sub. You can get ones with out the amp built in if you are worried about heat. Just put the amp under a seat. Also, why not install it yourself? It's pretty easy. I did mine on the ferry from Vancouver to Victoria. Lol. You get a few looks when people are walking on the vehicle deck and your passenger seat is out.

This sub I'm looking at should fit in the back next to the rear pass. side speaker, it's only like 7" deep I think. As far as the install goes, I'm also trying to get my BP swap done and I need somebody to blame if the stereo craps out, and I know what you mean about the ferry install. As a native islander I have carried all sorts of stuff across as a walk on passenger (we keep a beater car on the other side in a commuter lot.) Old bicycles, I met some friends on the boat and had my skis with me, strapped them on the roof rack on the way across, I went and picked up my Metro rims and tires with a dolly and just walked across where I met the seller.
