  • installing a radio

    ok need to know how to hook a radio up in the festiva.... i only got ground and the radio antenna nothing else.... did confirm that there are 4 speakers but can't for the life of me find the speaker wires and constant "Memory" power need help

      It has a dimmer. Its Orange iirc.

        They probably didn't list the dimmer wire because most aftermarket radios do not have a wire for the dimmer switch input.

          Everyone i have run across did. From the Wal-Mart special to my 600 dollar jvc they all have it.

            The Festiva speaker wires are predominantly green for the front and blue for the rear. See if you can locate all eight of them. They should be in two bunches of four. Memory power is a single white/red wire with a brown connector. Good luck.

              i only got a solid black wire but i don't know where it goes (maybe to chassis someware?) also got all 4 speakers in the car.... i will check the wires later when i get home

                didn't see the plug... looks too clean behind the "1980" 2 knob radio i pulled out yesterday.... he said he did not know if that radio worked he just used it to fill the hole in the dash

                  The solid black wire grounds the radio to the dash frame.
                  Normally any solid black wire is a ground.

                      May be most of the ones i have installed never have them but mainly i use pioneer or kenwood radios i can not remember if my old double din from jvc had the dimmer wire or not because it was in the car when i bought it so i am not certain.

                        well after i looked yesterday, i gotta run new constant and swiched power to the dash plus i gotta find the speaker wires and bring them back into the dash... btw how do you remove the speaker grills?

                              Pry them up from the bottom with a flat-blade screwdriver.
