    Hello, Ive messed up my dear sweet wife (Shes a Redhead) wanted to switch out the cassette player a JVC in her 1993 Festy to a cd player , found a deal on a Sony. I was told it might be plug and play and having more confidence in my abilities than I should I dug in. Well, I removed the JVC looked at the wires and the plug for the back realized it wasnt plug and play and went to reinstall the old one. Before I pushed it back in the slot I turned it on and got nothing. I checked the fuse in the panel my owners manual said it was the cigar lighter fuse it was good and checked the inline fuse on the hot wire it was good also. If anyone has any ideas or wants a mad but cute Redhead with a nice festy let me know. LOL htdhtd

    Push it all the way back in the dash I can't remember if that has anything to do with ground or not and turn it on if you just unplugged the wire harness replugged it up. Then it should work.

      The radio is grounded from a stud on the back of the radio to a metal frame attached to the body. Make sure that it is nice and tight. Also make sure all four connectors are plugged in tight.

        Just in case you try to tackle the CD player install, you should know there's only a couple wires to it. +12v constant which is battery power, saves presets.. +12v switched(acc), that's the on/off basically when the key is turned, also a main power supply, then the ground. Other than that you only have 8 wires, a positive and negative for each speaker. Every CD player I've ever installed had a diagram to tell you what wires are what. If you can identify the wires in the Festiva harness you'll be set, should be in the Haynes manual. Good luck, don't use wire nuts!!! Black tape is better, solder is best.

        Make sure to check All your fuses first, it might be something simple to avoid a hassle. It never hurts to tripple check them.

          You can get the wiring harness on ebay for less than bucks shipped (I think i paid 5 bucks shipped). Makes the install very easy. I actually just found my notes on wire colors last night.

          Basically all your doing is matching up colors on the wires. But I had a few issues with colors not matching up and here are my notes on that.

          Ground:
          Car= Black
          Harness= Black

          Constant:
          Car: Red/White
          Harness: Yellow

          Accessory:
          Car= Blue/Yellow
          Harness= Red

          This is using the ebay harness.
