  • Question regarding Gamin GPS

I have a Garmin Nuvi model 2455 that is giving me grief... and that's all.

When I plug the Garmin into the computer the computer doesn't "see" it. I've tried contacting Garmin and they aren't very helpful, the first thing they suggest doing is plugging unit into the computer and updating the software!!! When I plug the unit into the car using the factory cable it does not charge but remains solely on battery power. I have replaced the battery already thinking that was the problem.

The unit is stored in the house and was working when I last put it away.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Possibly, but I've tried different cables that are known to be good and all of the USB sockets on the computer.

The port could have broken loose from the board just enough to break the solder or even just crack it so it seems fine but isn't.

This can happen with age too. Solder can just crack with age. You might try reflowing the solder on the port.
Any difference that makes no difference is no difference.

I would go into search settings and search for Device Manager until you find the Garmin, right click it and click properties and see if you can update the communicator. or if your lazy go to http://www.garmin.com/communicator and or http://www.garmin.com/webupdater

That's the issue... the Garmin doesn't show up when it's plugged into the computer.
