how do i remove my factory stereo?????

current owner of 1996 2door manual festi...
would like anyone to help me get rid of my crappy factory issue tape deck and put in a new pumping JVC head unit. i cant figure out how to rip the darn thing out!!!
ANY help would be appreciated ASAP

there are 2 screws holding the black bezel that surrounds the fan control, radio and has 2 vents. Phillips screw driver I believe. The top of this surround is held in place by 2 clips. They should just pull out. Be careful though the clips do lose the retaining clip on the dash side. Next there should be the 2 or 4 screws holding the stock radio in place. Remove those screws. Then unplug the 3 wire plugs & the antenna on the back side of the stock head unit. If you are into hacking & splicing the stock harness that's fine but you can get the matching plugs at circuit city, pep boys........ pretty much anywhere that has DIY area. Ask for the one for a 88 rx7 IIRC. Cause the employee's ask "what car do you have?" You say Ford festiva. They say "Oh sorry we don't have anything in the system for that application." Take the easy route and ask for the 1988 RX-7.


Oh yeah you have to make a ground with this harness. Its the black one. I attached it to the frame that holds the center console up.
