Rear shelf speaker installation

Just thought I'd share the idea... Recent Ohiostiva attendees may have seen the plywood rear shelves I've made for both of my cars. I put some 6 x 9 speakers in one of them today. Since the shelf is removable, the speakers need to be unpluggable :-). Pics:

Even though the speakers themselves are $20 Wal-Mart crap, they sound great :-).

Very nice, I like the way you mounted the speaker disconnect.
So how do those 6x9s sound?

If I had the materials I'd make you one, but I'm fresh out of 1/4" plywood... Besides, a design flaw has cropped up; the extra weight is making the thing squeak a little when going over big bumps in the road. Haven't had a chance to look at it yet. I think some additional bracing is in order.

What if you put some velcro strips on the sides of the bottom, it wouldn't bounce.

Try some of that thin insulating foam strip stuff with the sticky back that people use to put on the edge of doors or around windows , It come's in different thickness and widths .

It's already got that - I guess the foam is squeaking on the plastic now. I might try some silicone spray stuff - that might do it.
