i was debating if i should just get 2 12" hifonics goliath 3212, build my own box and dynamat the hatch myself of if i should pay the local caraudio shop to rip out the back seat, build a wall, dynamat the whole back, put in 4 amps (1 amp going to ea. sub) 4 batteries (1 going to ea. amp) and an alternator. if i just did the 2 12" in my 6 cubic foot box than i would pay about 200 for suplies and save a load on labor. how much should i be ecpecting to pay to have them wall up 4 12s, 4 amps 4 batteries one alternator and dyanamat pretty much the whole back. im talking labor and supllies wise. the guy at the shop couldnt give me a good estimate. he said for the labor and the wall, anywhere between 1000-2000 and thats too broad for me. DJ, you are the car audio guy, what kind of labor are wetalking about, becasue i felt anything past 1250 is a bit much.

my opinion, instead of getting a shop to do all that work, take the back seat out yourself and build a box big enough for all 4 subs and hook them all up
well that's what i'd do, but then again i want to blow windows out just to say i did

1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)
If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

It really depends on if you want it permanent or easily removable. A wall is not too easily removed. Whereas like the half wall I made is bolted together not stapled, nailed or screwed together. It took time to engineer, and time to build. It was not rushed. It was meant to be able to be removed over and over again and fit exactly the same way every time. This enables me to install it into another Festiva or replace all the components or have it shipped off to a shop for paint or what have you without the fear that the system will be damaged or stolen. Most audio shops could give a rats ass about the removal and reinstallation factor. Besides, when you DIY, you know what has been done to the boxes.. Like I know my boxes are sealed with a high quality sealer. I know there are no ooops screw holes in them. I know what kind of glue was used etc etc..
An audio shop is ALWAYS more expensive than DIY. But that's what these forums are for.. the DIY'er. Help is on tap here..
