  • Speakers?

My fest dosent have any speakers right now. I need some opinions on what to get. Im not looking for anything fancy, just good enough to listen to the radio. I almost pulled the stock speakers out of a fest in the yard today but i figured, theres probably other cars with better stock speakers. are there any preticular cars that would have decent speakers? or should i just grab the ones out of a fest.

if you're getting stock speakers from something, the main thing to look for as far as quality is find some that haven't really deteriorated. A lot of times if you look in hondas and escorts you'll find that someone has swapped in cheap walmart speakers. They aren't the best speakers in the world, but at least if they were put in recently they are fairly new.

Old ones from the junk yard are not likely to be any good.

        stefan,

Nothing fancy, but they work pretty well.
Wal-mart carries a 4" speaker, brand name lightning.
Direct fit for front and back, plug and play.
Just pay attention to + and - signs from existing speaker.
I've installed 5 sets so far!
Price is usually 24.97 plus tax.
        Sometimes cheaper on e-Bay!

you mean they screw right in with the stock screws? and the connectors match? or do you have to splice them?

they should screw right in easily but you might have to splice the wires into the stock harness...(that's how we do it here in the philipines).

yeah, unless you get stock festy speakers you will be splicing wires no matter what route you decide to take.

heh speaking of speakers, before i sold my gremlin i pulled the sound equipment from it. headunit i think dad is going to put in his car. but i put 2 of the 5 1/4" speakers in my front doors on the aspire. these speakers are from cummings tools so there cheap lol. but one finally blew, and i need to get another but havent gotten around to it yet lol.

RADIO SHACK house brand. I got some from there for like 15 bucks for a pair. And they sound really good for the money. Im not trying to win any competitions so they work for me.[/u]

Paper cones are BAD. They wont last and sound like poop. Youll be happy to fork up the extra 10 dollars to get a better product.

^^ i have 150W pioneres in the front locations and home stereo speakers in the back, it sounds good but i'm keeping my eyes open for some 6.5" speakers to stick in teh doors!

if you can get a good deal on those pioneer's though they are decent speakers.

I really like the 4" pioneers too. They aren't that expensive either. I was at Walmart last night, and they have them for $37
The ones that Pu241 was talking about I installed in my 90 festiva, and I don't like them anywhere near as much as I like the pioneer units. When I first got them they were fine, but as time went on, I had to increase the volume to get the same sound level from them. I have the pioneer units in my B6 and they are still great. I installed the pioneer speakers before the lightning ones.
