radio help

i am new to this site but it seems like a great help. i need some help with my festiva, i took out the stock radio and i am trying to install a aftermarket JVC KD-SX990 but for some reason the JVC wont work it is getting power and it will accept the cd but it wont play and it wont tune into the radio all i get is a clock at the corner saying 1:00 that is it. is there any one that can help me out

What did you do with the stock radio? What year is your festiva ?

I'd be glad to help with wiring diagrams and such, but I need a bit more info about the install and what you are trying to do. It sounds like you may have the battery and ground wires hooked up right but the accessory wire isn't hooked up properly and the stereo never actually "turns on" but its still powering the clock and the cd accept, which works even when the unit is off. Did you use an aftermarket wiring harness or are you using a manual with the stock wire colors marked (or are you just doing it trial and error like I used to do? )

Mannnn i had the same problem. I installed... unistalled .. reinstalled atleast 5 times trying to get it to work. I knew i was doing it right to! Well i think your problem is the "accesory" and main connection.. (turns on with key or you want it on when engine starts). Well what i did was just hook them both up wich i allways thought was a no no. But its been working perfect for a lonnng time. Try it!
