Crazy thought, guys. I want NOS, but I work at Wal-Mart and drive a Festiva for a reason. (Other than the fact that I like it)

So, here's my idea. Take a can of starting fluid and tube it directly into my carb. Then, squeeze it through 3rd and 4th.
I have absolutely no experience with this, so I have one question. Would I blow the motor doing this?
Any difference that makes no difference is no difference.

I don't own a vid cam, but I'll be sure to borrow my aunt's if I try it. I've got a friend that knows these cars better than his mother, and I have an extra B3, just in case I blow the one installed. It has a bad oil leak anyway. Gotta use 20w 50 oil just to slow the leaking.

As you could imagine it runs a bit warmer now, but 5 quarts will last me a month, so it's worth it to me.

Uh, this makes no sense to me, but I did a test with the fluid and got totally baffling results. The exact opposite of what I thought.

I took the cap off the air box over the carb and sprayed some starting fluid into it while it idled and at about half throttle. Both slowed the motor down so much that it almost quit before picking back up.

Anyone have an idea what's going on here? I'm stumped. Do I have to add the fluid to the gas before it hits the carb, so as to let the carb mix the gas and starting fluid with air in the proper ratio?

Umm... Starting fluid is 50% ether so its not going to help you, could turn the can upside down that would be allot cooler intake charge. Here is a better idea buy whip cream cans and use the nitrous before the cream comes out hahaha!!!!

Make your own water injection, you could hella advance the ignition that way and gain some power.

              Thanks

Get some old person's oxygen breather and plumb it into your intake. Open the Reg all the way. Then while driving turn it on.

Take it back to the back porch, join the 3 string revolution.

If you go with the whipped cream, just don't do it in public!

                  Have some modesty, okay?

You could get Whippets, those Nitrous chargers for whipped cream canisters, and plumb the whipped cream dispenser to your intake, but you would need a small extra fuel supply too.

You could also get a leaf blower and plumb it to your intake.... that actually works.... for a little while anyway, as it will lean your engine out very badly... but add some fuel and your back to a non-lean condition.

im new to the site but far from new to performance cars.

#1 starting fluid and nitrous have just about nothing in common.
your going about this all wrong. google nitrous oxide and read about it.
#2 the leaf blower thing aka electric supercharger is been proven wrong hundreds of times.
leaf bloweers are only capable of accelerating air not compressing it above atmospheric pressure to create boost.
starting fluid aka ether is just a flamable liquid compressed into a can.
nitrous is just a way to force feed more air into a cylinder.
sorry to burst your bubble but just slap a cheep 50 shot on your festy and go.

i can't beleve I'm getting into the conversation...but here we go...

Well leaf blowers and eletric fans may not make compression.....but i'm a bit of a tim allen here....

I'm a landscaper by trade and have lots of high-end equipment.....

A common hand held gas powered leaf blower is not very powerful....however I own a Sthil BR 400 backpack blower.....it blows at about 200-250mph........ 8)

I have an old civic I autocross in an abandoned factory and I'm going to hook it up to the intake and see what happens

To give you an idea of how powerful it is..... I can shoot black walnuts about 200 ft with it........just stick one down the pipe....plug with hand rev it up and remove hand.....pppppphhhhhhhhooooooppppp!!!!!!!

                              We have airborn nuts!

If I do it....... i'll videotape it and share it with you guys.......
