I have seen leaf blowers make power on a dyno. More air is more air... as long as you don't lean out too much.. hard to believe, but true, and yes, it was a backpack blower.

When most people think of leafblowers they think of little hand held models.....back pack blowers have alot of force behind them........If I remember correct my pro backpack blower is rated at 5-6hp........Previous owner of 8 festivas... looking for number 9

ok so if where going to hill billy up a b3 lets do it right first make a set of free flowing headers disconect the down pipe, or even better pull the manifold off and port it with a dremel (itts just a 1.3 we dont need to get all cnc) if the car is carbd i would look into the vaccum diagrams and get all of the emisions junk off that you can or maybe invest in a simple carb, port the intake well your at it, add the home made methanol kit, play with the timming a little add a used msd 6A (keep the price down) blaster 2 coil add a plenum spacer to the carb if you have power steering disconect the belt same with ac take all the grease out of your wheel bearings (this wil.l help with less resistance but your bearings wont last long) maybe make a home made oil windage tray and of course only 5w-30 oil, make the car light! some 103 octane or better knife edge the conecting rods?

ohsoslow is right. N02 is basically oxygen, and a good NOS kit injects fuel at the same time. Theoretically a car should run at 14.7:1 fuel to air, run to much oxygen and the car will lean out and die, run to much fuel and the car will become to rich and die, which is why when u sprayed it into your car it died. If your car is carb it def will not work. Think of your car as a big vacuum pump. When the piston travels down it sucks air through the carb. In the carb are things called ventures. They basically are like airplane wings in the carb which accelerate the air. In the carb there is a bowl full of fuel with a little tube that runs next to the venture. When the air passes by the venture it causes a pressure change between the tube by the venture and the bowl, causing the fuel to basically be sucked into the engine, at which point it turns into a vapor, travels through the intake manifold, into the head past the valve, into the combustion chamber where it is compressed. When the mixture of fuel and air is compressed it becomes EXTREMELY hot, at which point the spark plug sparks causing an explosion and the expanding gasses force the piston to go down. This happens all so fast, about 13 1/2 times per second, just at idle So as you can see this is an EXTREMELY delicate process. If you just dump starter fluid, which is basically just fuel into the car, it simply is not going to run. Stick with what is known, an intake manifold will allow the air to move more easily from the carb to the head, a cold air intake supplies the car with colder air. When air colder it is more condensed with oxygen molecules giving you a more compleat combustion. A cam opens the valve for longer, allowing more air/fuel mixture to be sucked into the engine. An exhaust allows the burnt gasses to escape the combustion chamber more easily making more room for the air/fuel mixture. The best this to do it just talk to people and find out what works best for the car, believe me everything that is crazy you can think of has been tried before, so try and stick to what is known and works and you will be lovin' life.(GONE)88 Festiva LX 5 Speed, Factory A/C, Factory Tow Hitch, Tach.

I did this exact thing with my moped when I was 14 and it definitely made my machine run faster. Now having said that, I do not think it is a good idea with a car. If you can find a compound that will increas the oxygen content in the air/fuel mixture (like no2) then you are on to something. Hmm. wonder what hydrogen peroxide would do for combustion... muahahahaha!I'm going to come at you like a spider monkey!

dose anyone know if water inj. in to the intake boosts the hp? i would think that the water cant compress and boost the comp. also it woulod cool it. im going to try it when im about to do my motor swap so if it dose hydro lock then i have a new motor to put in it im going to try all sorts of stuff and tell you what works. im going to try hair spray, wd-40, methyl hydrate, acetone... all the stuff on the shelf that im not aloud to touch lol. any ideas that you have that you want me to try?

I've tried the acetone in fuel and basically what it does is lower the surface tension of the fuel thus allowing better atomization and mix. It also helps on vehicles with poorly designed heads and manifolds with lots of "dead" spots. The acetone will help keep fuel from pooling in those areas. On a Suzuki Swift I have I have measured up to 5mpg difference when using 3oz of acetone to a full tank. Any more than 3oz however, the fuel economy leveled off. I did not notice as much of a gain on my 4.0 Ford Ranger. I think the biggest gains come from worn out or poorly designed cars.Last edited by rmprob; 05-24-2010, 09:55 PM.
