you may gain slight HP at the top end but you're suggesting something illegal so i don't recommend it. your best bet is to run a larger diameter exhaust tubing and better muffler and if you happen to "accidentally" put a hole in the center of the cat (don't take out all the material) this will help the top end, but you didn't hear that from me.

It depends on where you live. If you have emissions inspection, then no, its not legal. If you don't have inspections, then go for it. Other than that, ^ he's right on.

hmmm. I'd say an RX-7 VAF meter, 1.6 or 1.8 injectors, a 1.6 sohc ECU, a 1.6 or 1.8 throttle body, and a decent tuner/dyno shop.
Trust me, bubba. You're not gonna get any big increase in power with that setup. Plus, the 1.3 sounds like crap through a glasspack. Get a decent high flow muffler. Just enough backpressure to keep from melting pistons, and a little deeper tone than a cherrybomb.
