  • Where Is The MAF?

I need to find the MAF aka Mass Air Flow Sensor for this chip I bought. Could someone please explain to me where it is on my car? 1993 Festiva L

    Thanks Alot :-D

    YOU DONT HAVE ONE.

We have a vane airflow meter VAM for short.

I think this was explained to you when you asked about the ebay 5hp resistor.

Save a few hundred for a b6 swap & new exhaust then you can hear it roar.
It's a good thing you don't read the stickies, you might of learned something.Poverty produces creativity

Just like muscle_Car1 said, you don't have a Mass air flow sensor in your festiva. We have vane airflow meters in our cars. There aren't any "chips" for our cars.

well if you belive in the them the MAF is located right in the center of your intake tube . . . right next to the turbo incapulator and wired in before the blinker fluid pump.

P.S. I have Muffler Bearings for sale to stop that annoying muffler rattle

seriously buddy, those things are a hoax. If that little resistor could double your HP and up your MPG, dont you think they would wire that resistor in at the factory? NOPE, its BS!

Dont let this discourage you though. Check out a B6 motor swap. It bolts up and is an easy swap for a nice power boost.

we tried this one out actually on my buddys camaro back in college, we wired resistors into a two position relay
it did give a 5 hp boost however it cut efficiancy by 2 mpg . . . also the hotter the motor got the less HP boost was created

over-all it was a boost but not even a noticable boost

Oy! Again with the chip that's not a chip.

Dude, you do not have a MAF meter. Period. End of conversation.

Besides that, this thing is not supposed to hook to the MAF, but to the IAT sensor, which is generally located close to the MAF sensor.

                  You got ripped off.

I've been messing with cars my whole life; probably longer than you've been alive. Believe me, this thing isn't for real. It's a scam, a hoax, hooey, bullsh*t, a lie, an intentional falsehood, a ruse, snake oil...shall I go on? And for the love of gawd, don't tell us about how some guy with a Honda told you that it adds horsepower, or that you want to gain power to compete with the local ricer, and this is how you intend to do it. Yikes!

                    welcome to the forum codex*!

contrary to everyone else here i would like to tell you that what you have got is a great deal. In fact, its such a great deal, the person who sold it to you for $20 got it for only $.04!! thats why scamers like folks like you. I mean, everyone knows that the more power you have the better your MPGs will be, right?

sounds like the first thing you need to learn is: Cheap, fast, reliable. Pick two. That is 100% truth (though like all truth it can be bent a little)

throw out the chip, or if you can, return it to whoever sold it to you. The "chip" will just send your ECU a signal saying that the engine is running w/ cold air, causing a rich condition and a slight increase in power and a decrease in mpgs.

Keep with the festiva, its a good fun car, just ask here before you buy into any more scams. k? Good luck!

*this is a reference that anyone who has been on ANY car forum for an appreciable amount of time will immediately recognize, of course referring to the world-famous "codex" who welded his turbo up and thought the sound of its bearings wining away was cool.
