    It actually said "Stage One" on the air cleaner, IIRC.

    I think earliest use of " Stage " to represent a level of performance tuning was for the early 60s Sunbeam Tiger with LAT ( Los Angeles Tiger ) Stage 1 tuning kit ( solid lifter cam, higher-rate valve springs, recurved distributor, 4-barrel Holley carb ).

    Land Rover did a Stage 1 in the early 80's I think :lol: .
