need distributor advice for BP

I got a BP engine out of the junkyard a while back am in the process of rebuilding it. The only problem is when I pullde the engine it did not have a distributor on the car. I am currently trying to replace it and I have hit a bit of a dead end. I found that SNAP has several replacements for it but I am not sure if I should get hall-effect or optical or something completely different.

Any advice would be appreciated.

What car did you get your motor out of? What year was it?

the car was an automatic so I did not grab anything else off of it
