After some serious lookin, I gave up on finding a pacesetter.

    I did however, order this part# 45078 - Ford - Ford Probe '93-'97 from B&M.
    This thread was somewhat helpful.

The B&M comes with a pivot asembly as shown in http://tinyurl.com/26mvjj.

I'm wondering if anyone has had any experience with them?

I'm somewhat worried, as i"m going from festy to known compatible with probe with pace setter to probe shifter with B&M.

I hope it works, if it does, it will make the pace setter look affordable!

Yes! Do tell! I wanted to get one, but I wasn't sure if there was any that would fit out of the box, at least without modification.

I think you should be able to make it work! It may take a little fab work, the cheap civic shifters fit inside the festiva housing, this one has its own housing, so you'll have to do a little fab work there, but the hole through the bottom of the shifter should work but it may need a little shimming... can't wait to see it installed, i'm sure you'll be able to do it!

Ok, It in in. This is definatly NOT a direct swap in. We had to cut off the bushing housing on the stabilizer arm and weld in a piece
of steel pipe that had the proper diameter. Also had to fab a bushing for the lower pivot assembly (incidently, that was where the squeak came from)

The end result is a really fluid and VERY short throw. Not only does it feel much more precise, it also "solid" as the whole housing is replaced. I also know I need to change the bushings at the other end of the linkage assembly.

Over all I'm pleased. But it wasn't easy.

has anyone just cut and weld a little pice in the bottom half of the stifter? that would make it a short shifter and you could still use the stock boot and knob.

sasquatch, I wouldn't trust a weld job for shifting gears.

packrat427, I didn't have a camera for the fabbin. I can show you the finished product if you want. It's pretty damn short.

Yea I did. I didnt use a big enough piece in between though. Im wanting to buy another shifter and making it a bit longer this time. Im not worried at all about it breaking.

Kofkof: I'm glad you got it working!! I'm sure its better than the e-bay shifters!

I assume you used a small piece of pipe, and not a solid bar, correct? it would seem to me that if you used a piece of pipe of the appropriate diameter you should be able to make a shifter this way and still have it be very solid. Of course the stock boot + knob fit on the civic shifter just as well as on the stock shifter, so the only advantage to doing it this ways is that its cheaper.

Also i've got an extra stock shifter if you need one to work with, $10 shipped.

FMS should make up a short shifter that is a direct fit. It could be quite the hot item.

I've been out driving, had to come in as the roads are icing up. It's definitly different. gears are a little "notchy" #2 is a real tight fit with my racing seat. I might pick up the appropriate b&m knob. Debating it. I really like my 8ball though...

The setup presently looks as if someone glued an 8ball to the stock boot.
