  • 6 speed G-series transmission ??? any info

is there such a thing? will it fit? will it improve the preformance of a b6t (or a stock b3 or b3 turbo) festiva? if not a G-series transmission than any other 6 speed ideas???

My name is Gus, this is my first post...

no 6spd G series. Was the MazdaSpeed Protege a 6spd? Ford used a Getrag 6spd in the SVT Focus. A sixth speed (or any additional speed) just narrows the rpm range between shifts, helping to keep an engine closer to its peak torque/hp rpm. The best trans for ANY turbo engine is an automatic. Not having to lift the throttle keeps the engine in boost.

OK thanks for that info, and the quick reply... i know a little about the svt focus the svt 2.0-liter Zetec has less hp than the 2.0 Duratec focus but with the 6 speed the svt can be quicker than the Duratec 5 speed. Ok, my question now is can a 6 speed improve any n/a engine, or do only a few engines benefit???

the Duratec (chain driven cam) is a 2.3L, the SVT 2.0L Zetec (belt driven cam) made 10 more hp than the Duratec. I worked for Ford (corporate and dealer) for many years...

more speeds allow better utilization of the engine's (any engine) peak tq/hp
