  • bottom end max HP?

Im new to the festiva thing. I just bought a 93 festiva and Im wondering, what is the max HP the lower end will hold before things start coming apart? I believe the motor is a B3? Thanks.

to be on the safe side....40hp. heheheh but seriously i dunno if anyone has tested it. it's hard to get more than 70 or 80 hp out of it without nitrous or touching the bottom end. bottom line? unless your gonna put a 300 shot of nos on it your not gonna make enough hp with bolt ons to blow up the bottom end. maybe with a turbo...i wouldn't chance it on taking it above say 120hp on the stock bottom end (at the flywheel, not the wheels).

nitrous is the plan. Completely gutted, I was hoping to get into the high 14s with nitrous. Im not sure it'll be possible with only 120hp though.

prolly not. besides you'll break the tranny if you get 120 out of it. go for a b6 and juice it up with a g series tranny. gut it out and then you'll be there.

just pull everything from a turbo capri, then you'' have a good tranny and the b6t. get the engine, tranny, halfshafts, ecu...then your on your way.

I've decided that before I change the motor, I'm going to break into the 14s with the stock motor and tranny. Im not stopping until I hit a 14.999 (or better) or I spill motor all over the track. I don't think this has been done before.

there was already a 150 hp b3 festiva...and it only cost 14,000 to have the engine built. i'm sure he was running better than 14.99 if he ever took it down the 1/4
