  • tranny questions.

as you know my BP ate my auto tranny and left its all over the road, so i am installing my 4 speed tranny for temp. use my concern is the cross member that the tranny sits on, do i have to put one from a manual Festiva in it? or can i use the auto one thats already in it? its sitting in there nice with the mounts bolted. it all LOOKS good, but the engine seems to be about 1 1/2 inches closer to the pass. side than it was with the auto, so I'm afraid the half shafts wont fit back in if this is the case.

can someone measure the gap between the frame rail and the engine of the tranny on their festiva and let me know how big the gap is?

the manual and auto trans crossmembars ar different. You'll need the one from a manual trans car for the engine/trans location to be correct.

I am in the middle of this swap right now... I had to use the auto cross member but had to change the rear trans mount, I did not notice a difference in the member but then again I have to work on the car at night after work so my attention to detail my be lacking. Have not installed cvs yet. Man I hope there are interchangeable...
