  • TBI install for carbed festivas

starting a TBI install for one of my carbed festivas (Scrappy) He's got a B6 and P&P'd head (needs cam again). will post pics, parts list, wire diagram, and results as soon as this gets started.

I have a spare intake and distro I'll be adapting, and using a GM 2.5 TBI and ECU from a early 90s S-10 (has IAT sensor). I have also learned that i can use the Reluctance signal from the distro pick-up coil to drive the injector trigger, so the wiring should be fairly simple.

if this works as planned, we could potentially relieve all the carb woes that are foiling many of our members here

    wish me luck...

Why not from an early throttle body Escort? Just curious.

You could turbo a carby model if you really wanted to. Either suck through or blow through trains of thought.

the GM parts are easier to come by and (for me) easier to intigrate into the festies system, plus they're usually cheaper too.

if this were to become a turbo car, it would have to be a drawthrough (suck) type system as the TBI injector works with just 13psi (max)

Thanks I was just curious. Although it would make sense that the GM parts would be more readily available. Looking forward to seeing how this works out. Good Luck!

trying to solve drivability problems that are popping up on the carbed festivas out there without haveing to install all the EFI parts and tear the dash/engine apart to do it. if things go as they look like they are going, it'll just be a matter of removing carb, bolting in adapter plate, running seperate harness to seperate ECM, plumbing in gm CTS, plumbing in low pressure inline pump at the firewall, bolt in TBI unit, apply power and run normaly.

granted you will have to splice into 2 wires on the Distributor, but the rest of the wiring should be autonomous.

Throttle body injection. Kinda a carby-fuel injection hybrid.
1 injector squirts fuel where the carb is/should be
