  • Painting engine block

The parts car motor I have is very very rusty. This is the plan.. Pressure wash /degrease it good, take a the wire wheel on the dremel to it, pressure wash it again, spray some rust stop on it, prime , paint it ford blue. The thing I haven't found any engine primer, can I use regular primer? Would rust stop be a good thing to use? Thoughts/tips anyone?

any good paint can tolerate the heat of a water-cooled engine block. I've had very good luck with Rustoleum red Oxide primer, followed by a good quality gray primer, then engine color ( blue, gray, black...) Don't use the rattle cans of engine paint from Duplicolor, Plasticote, etc., if you want a quality finish. If you can't spray automotive paint, I'd just go with a decent spray can paint, like Rustoleum. It resists solvents and fuel well. Surprisingly, the "engine" paints don't...

I bought 2 cans of duplicolor with ceramic says it resistant to gas and oil. I bought it wal-mart for almost $4 a can. I think advanced auto has the same. All I want is something to holdup doesn't have to be to pretty. What did you use for primer?
