  • G series clutch question

Shopping for G series clutches for the G25MR I just bought out of a Capri and ran across this:

The BP swap sticky says the G series is 22 spline but the specs clutchnet lists for the Escort GT trans is 20 spline. Any ideas?

Edit: just checked the Capri application and it's correct, odd

Yea, Escort trans is hydro but everything I've read says it's 22 spline like the Capri

        These will fit.

It's a good thing you don't read the stickies, you might of learned something.Poverty produces creativity

The escort GT and the capri XR2 have G-series transmissions. Both have a 22 tooth input spline count. Swapping clutches should be no problem. I don't think it makes a difference if the transmission is hydro or cable because that is all exterior transmission stuff and doesn't actually affect what clutch you put in the car.

The Capri xr2 has a G5MR (or G15MR if you prefer to call it that) not a G25MR. The G25MR is the second generation of the G series tranny. The capri xr2 used the old design.
