  • help - 91 1.3 short ram intake

Well I searched and searched, but only came up with answers for swapped cars. My friend has a 91 Festiva with the original 1.3 engine. I was going to get him an intake, and searched (correct me if i'm wrong) and found any mazda adapter will work off ebay. So that was good, I'll get him an adapter and air filter in one auction. I was checking out the pictures on here, and I'm not sure how to do it. His intake tube goes torward the front of the car and turns to the passenger side. After we remove the intake box, how would you guys fit it in there? Do you use different intake tubing? Does anybody have any pictures of a stock Festiva with a short ram? I saw one guys but I think he said he had an escort motor in it, or maybe that was a different one, whatever it was the intake tube turned to the driver side

Well, here's one way you might do it. This is from fastfester's car. Although you can't see it in this pic too well, it looks like he has cut the flexible part of the stock intake at the first joint and clamped the stock VAF there with the filter and adapter bolted to it so it ends up with the filter behind the passenger headlight. I don't know if I would want that VAF that close to the exhaust manifold personally but there aren't a lot of options for putting a cone filter in there. Click below:

thanks man but yea i got sum 2.5 inch flex pipe and fabbed 1 up i split my maf off of the car and took the gasket and traced it to a piece of metal cut it all out then welded it together then put my cold air intake filter on it and cut the flex joint and i had to trim out the inner rubber a bit to make it work but i got it and it bores really really loud!
