customized oil pan

My check oil light comes on under cornering.

apparently the oil pickup sucks air then.
Anyone customized a B3 oil pan, yet?

I planned to spot weld in sheet-metal pieces that build an enclosure/reservoir around the oil pickup. If required the oil pickup tube will be made a bit longer. Not sure if I only in weld baffles or equip them with flapper doors that allow oil to flow in but no drain-back from there.
A properly designed sheet also will separate the crankshaft from the oil to prevent it sloshing in the lubricant.


So far theory. IŽd appreciate your thoughts about this

The only time my oil light has come on when taking a corner is when I'm down more than a quart and I am taking the turn very sharp and fast. If you go too low with the oil pickup tube, you will collect some of the junk sitting on the bottom of the oil pan that you want to stay where it is.

ya, only ever had that problem when I was really low on oil. Putting in baffles and so forth can make the oil pool and leave the deposits where you don't want them.

But I change oil frequently and have a low mileage engine.
Besides that taking off the pan from time to time would be ok for me.

Oil level is fine.

I've had the same problem, even with a full level. Uncle Fester will pull the inside rear wheel off the ground on an off ramp, even w/ the stock 12's. Sump goes dry before the carb bowl... When I do the b6 swap, I'm gonna baffle/trap door the pan, and increase its capacity.

Come to think of it, I might have seen it pop on once when I was practicing j-turns on wet pavement.

The following is from a post my friend Dan made only I delete about half of it.

1) Installing oil pan baffle(s) to keep the oil from sloshing too far away from the pickup


2) Weld a "collar" around the pickup to encourage it to draw the oil "up" from the bottom of the pans, rather than sucking air at the edges.


3) Accusump - pressurized oil reservoir for "low pressure events". Pump pickup starts sucking air? Accusump pumps up to 3 quarts in at proper pressure, then instantly refills itself once the pickup is sucking oil again. Also, can be installed w/ an electronic valve that is linked to the ignition. Turn the key off, the sump stays charged w/ full oil pressure. Put the key in and turn to run, the sump pre-oils everything auto-magically! [red bull voice] BRILLIANT! [/red bull voice]


4) Run an extra quart of oil the cheapest way but you lose some power and might get foaming.
