  • Cherry bombs.

Hello, do they make 2" cherry bombs to be able to put on a festiva with a stock b3? I know Ive heard a lot of people saying not to go bigger, so just wondering. Also if any of you have done it, does it actually sound like an old v8?

I have a cherry bomb on mine. It has a nice, deep tone. it's a little loud and not quite V8 sounding, but it doesn't sound at all like a fart can. It's also long. I had to cut the pipe almost to the rear axle beam to get it to fit. You can see it peeking out from under the bumper.

    A tip.

Keep the factory resonator or it will be much louder and it will have that tinny, fart can sound.

I've had two different cherry bombs.
First, the glasspack, which i cut most of one end off to bring it farther under the car. Did not cut anything off of the midpipe of the car though, kept it all original.

here's another angle to give another idea of how it looked...

i also put a cherrybomb PRO. Nice, deep sound. Very deep. It would resonate with the basstube and might get aggravating on a long ride, unles you insulate. Once again though, nice sound. It stuck under the car just a little, and that may have been some of the sound problem, but i never tried to fix it.

i need to find a good picture of it, then i'll post it.

The glasspack was 2", and the PRO was either 2 1/2" or 2 1/4". Don't recall.
The glasspack had original exhaust pipe, but the PRO got a so called "stock replacement" that i ordered through CarQuest which should have been original size but was actually a little larger in diameter and did not fit the original heat shield. Maybe 1/4" larger?
Here's the best pic i could find of the PRO..

Had 2 cherry bombs on mine at one time. I liked the sound...especially when you got on it. They were in place of the cat and the regular muffler. I ended up replacing with the stock exhaust after I ended up wiping out the exhaust 3 differant times.....those are anothre story...lol.

Oh no....I made my exhaust wear out faster.....hitting things that were to high in the road.......exhaust hanging to low at the time.

I have a 2" cherry bomb glasspack on mine, I put it right after the cat, I have 2" exhaust from hearder back with a high flow cat. I dont have a resonator however....

Its neat cause when you look at the car it doesnt look like it has a muffler, it looks like stright pipe with a tip because of where I put the muffler...

P.S. When they say to keep the resonator.... DO it! lol Mines FREAKIN LOUD! lol oh well everyone heres me comming!

I have a Magnaflow low restriction cat and muffler on Luxstiva with all 2" pipes. It's a bit loud and I would like it quieter, especially for trips.

I was thinking of replacing the muffler, which is a 14" long X 9" wide Magnaflow straight through type with something quieter.

However, might installation of a Cherry Bomb between the cat and my muffler do the trick like a resonator? Anyone know?

I did that on Fester, but a cherry bomb in the mid-pipe with a turbo muffler at the back, but I have no cat. Made the sound rather pleasant, vs. tinny and annoying without it.

                        Thanks again Jim!

My exhaust is not really "tinny," but it can get loud at freeway speeds and under acceleration. I may try this.

my glass pack is in place of the resonator, right behind the flex mesh that replaced the cat, and flex joint. then its just pipe on out the back. it idles suprisingley quiet. but the loud pedal is in fact verry loud..but then cruising in fourth or fifth isint "that bad".

having several foot of pipe with a couple of bends behind a cherry bomb is like night and day for the difference in sound output.

i have a cherry bomb on my green car located just under the shifter and a 4" tip that was about 2 ft. long out the back, here's an older pic of my car when the tip was still on it, and it had a very deep sound to it
