  • Festiva trans into aspire trans mount

Im having trouble putting a Festiva 5 speed into my aspire. The front trans mount on the festiva trans is cut in half. When I look at whats left, I cant see how it will align with the cross member on my aspire. It looks like using the festiva trans mount, it will place the mount about 1 inch closer to the engine, and not line up with the cross member? Does this make sense? Does anyone have a photo of the trans mount for a Festiva, so I can try to picture what Ive got going on here?

PS, No name kid, your trans removal how to has been very helpful so far! Thanks!

As he was perfectly drifting past the apex I looked at Quasimofo and yelled "You know, I have never been in a rollover accident before!"... I think it all went pretty well after that.

Thanks for the complement. When ever I have put the tranny back in, it never looks like it will line up right and that is with everything being stock. If it is one inch, you may be able to loosen the nuts on the bottom of the mount, bolt it to the tranny and then tighten up the bolts on the bottom.

Here is a picture I "borrowed" from partsamerica.com

Joey, you have to use the Aspire trans mounts.

I cant use the Aspire mount, it wont work with the case on the Festiva trans.

No name kid, have you ever put a Festiva trans into an Aspire?

Im trying to find a Festiva trans mount, but no luck yet. I can only get part of it from parts america, autozone and the like. I need the whole mount, the saddle type part that actually mounts to the trans.

I tried and couldn't get it to line up, it was a good 1.5" or so off (if I remember). Even when I fabricated a mount and got it to line up w/the crossmember holes, it was too close/riding on the sway bar. Even tried redrilling the cross member. The Aspire mount definately will not work. I was told (after the fact) that a Festy Mount bracket should work, but I cannot verify this. I used the 'guts' from the festiva trans in my aspire case. Worked perfect. Definately increased my mileage and decreased my acceleration. Good Luck.

The way I understand swapping transmissions between the two, you have to use the front mount that corresponds to that transmission, i.e. aspire trans in a festiva, use an aspire mount. I have a spare transmission in my garage with the other half of the mount still bolted to it. I can take a picture of it when I get home. I could even send it to you, if you wanted it. I never unbolted it before because people typically leave them attached to the tranny.

If you are willing to send me the mount, I will gladly paypal the shipping cost and whatever you want for the mount. I figure that if I couldnt find a mount, I will just switch cases. Send me a price, and can work something out, my zip is 48442.

                Thanks,

Nonamekid, Today I am going to try to switch the internals, so I may not need the mount after all. I will let you know tonight how that goes.

                    Thanks!

Nonamekid, the swap seemed to go okay, but now I need to find a throw out bearing locally! Everyone around here needs to order one.

Hey Pimpish, did the transmission fall in properly last night? After we talked about the baby I never asked.

What is involved in swapping the festiva transmission internals to an aspire transmission case?
