Aspire suspension/brake swap. Absolutely worth it. A must if you get more than 90 to 100 hp with an engine swap, IMO.
The suspension swap may add a few pounds (my rough guess--maybe 20 or 25 at the most), but will give excellent braking and add rear roll stiffness which is needed more than a larger front anti-roll bar.
With either swap, going to 13" wheels with a bit wider rubber is also a good idea.
If you stick with the 12" wheels, find a set of Festiva alloys and put a set of 165/70-12s on them. That'll help a bit.
If you stick with a stock Festiva, use the best braking components you can get and do a good job putting them on. The brakes on my (so far stock) '93GL are actually not too bad. I've had a few hard braking episodes and the solid rotors haven't warped yet and the pads are wearing evenly now.
Karl'93GL "Prettystiva" ticking B3 and 5 speed, backup DD; full swaps in spring!
'91L "AquaMutt" my '91L; B6 swap/5 speed & Aspire brakes, DD/work car
'92L "Twinstiva" 5sp, salvage titled, waiting for repairs...
'93GL "Luxstiva," '94 B6 engine & ATX; needs overhauled
'89L "Muttstiva," now a storage bin, future trailer project

Hi 2fastFesti!
Thought I'd check out the site since I haven't been here in a while. Hope everything is going good w/ the car I sold you. Engine swap would be a better alternative if you need more power. Alot of money can be spent in the stock 1.3 in this car to tune it equal to a 1.6 from a 323. Your better off to just get a 1.6 if you want a little more oomph. You'll get about 20hp more and can use alot of stock festiva components(alt. and such). Easy engine swap...pretty much a bolt in. If you have the need for speed then your looking at a 1.8 out of a Escort GT from the early to mid 90's. You'll have to mate that w/ a Tranny from a Mercury Carpi (convert.). This is involves more work as you have to make mounts or buy FMS ones and also cut some of the firewall for engine clearance. Not to mention wiring ect.
If you need help or get stuck just PM me and I'll do what I can. Always fun messing w/ these little cars. Good luck...Looks like your coming along well with the car.

If your going to swap an engine, there are a few things that you can still do to the B3 and still use them on a B6 or a BP engine if you go those roads. A exhaust system can be used on ANY of the motors and can be resused if you swap an engine. A CAI would be reuseable on just about any engine you could swap in except for a turbo model. Ignition system like a MSD or Accel would be reuseable and is ALWAYS good for some ponies and a bit of gas mileage. Of course a good tune-up and oil change with synthetic to what you have would ALWAYS be benefical.Fast, fun and good gas mileage. 91' Festiva(RIP) and 96' Aspire(RIP). The website is no more.
