From the loss of back pressure you would also lose torque

how much back pressure is ideal for a festy...i removed my cat converter a while ago and have noticed a slight torque loss

on my old b3 i ran a 2" straight pipe (still running it with my b6t) with a resonator along with a cold air intake (custom made using a ractive cone filter and cover and tubing down to the lower right front corner under the bumper. and advanced the timeing a little. I never really noticed a drop in torque. i did notice a good bit more power by my ass dyno! but i still wanted more. now i have it!

I regularly crused on the highway with the needel burried past the guage markings. (i got clocked doing 163 kph. dame not having a radar detector) and beatt a couple of stock festivas around town.

you got clocked doing 163 km/h in the festiva with the B3 with the cold air?was that topped out? When we g out racing here, we usually do it from a spot on the highway to a parking lot in town somewhere, Ive been beside a civic and he was doing a little over 170 km/h, we were both topped out and side by side

I have the stock exhaust piping, I think, because the outside diameter is 35mm (1.378") Which I think It's too small for the engine. Now I was thinking of changing the piping from front to rear and remove all the mufflers. Will it be loud? And What Size should I go for?

                Thanks

^ you want to remove all the mufflers then ask if its going to be loud? Do you understand what a muffler does & how it does it?

As far as size I have 2in from the header back. I really dont know whats up with the idea of loosing torque with a less restrictive exhaust. I was running with an open header for a month and sure didn't feel like I lost any power, hearing maybe, but no power loss

Well I don't want it super silent but I don't want it to be extremely loud that annoys me. I have been driving with the rear muffler removed and replaced with straight pipe and It's not that loud. Actually I like the sound of it. All I have is the middle resonator. And today I mounted the stock rear muffler to go to the mot and now you can barely hear it running. I don't want it that silent. I'm 21 years old. Also as for performance, I can guarantee that I lost a lot of power with the stock rear muffler. After Passing the mot, I am planning of changing the pipe to a bigger size, remove all of the mufflers and maybe fit a rear straight through muffler, maybe. The question is what size shall I go for? My engine is rebuilt and have cold air intake and some exhaust manifold porting.

Well I currently have a 2in from my 4-2-1 header back with a resonator in the middle. Its not really that bad sounding or annoyingly loud. When I redo it I'm going to replace the resonator and and this muffler

Using top of the line materials that will prove themselves through the test of time and to out-perform every other exhaust component on the market.

I like how their stuff sounds. Not too tinny at the upper end, and doesn't sound liek a full on wet fart either

So if I run a 1.77" straight pipe, it will be too loud?

Any straight pipe is gonna be too loud. A smaller one might be even louder than a larger one.

Remember our B3 was built for economy. Being loud and slow is embarrassing. You're also gonna lose some low end torque probably which is where all the economy is. You don't get good gas mileage when all your torque is over 4000 rpms.
