  • ProLX axles and IM shaft fit the XR2 Trans?

I have a set of protege LX and intermediate shaft for my aspire and I found a sweet deal on an XR2 transmission, I was wondering if my shafts will fit the XR2 spline count? It will be quicker than using the Hydro stuff I have.

not for an aspire. the use of protege LX hubs give it just enough track width to fit them in.

Look at it this way, the MX-3 V6 axles used in 323's are just the same amount longer than the protege LX compared to an aspire.

i guess the best way to find out is to try it

        1988 323 Station Wagon - KLG4 swapped
        1988 323 GT - B6T Powered
2008 Ford Escape - Rollover Survivor

1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

sweet, I just wanted to make sure the splines were the same, I know for sure the axle will bolt up to the BP block

I can give a definite yes on that. Those axle will go into the XR2 tranny, and should work perfectly in the aspire. I have always wanted to do a tranny swap in the aspire. With the availability of axles and stuff, one could pull the BP, tranny, and axles from an escort gt and have everything they needed to swap it into the aspire. One would just have to deal with the outer hubs but I don't see that being a big problem.
