transmission talk?

my question with the b6t is this. I'm looking for best milage on the highway as I do lots of highway driving with work. which is going to rev lower on the high way. the stock festiva 5spd or the 323gt tanny?


I know there was tranny talk with gearing specs. but I'm 1500km's from home and barely have phone service little alone internet.

If Im reading this correctly the Festiva tranny will give the better mileage because of the lower final gear.

I would go to the escort forum and look up the 5th gear swap. They use a G-series tranny and swap the 5 gear from a 626 into their trannies in order to get better gas mileage. I believe this would be your best option with the B6T as you would get a tranny that can handle some abuse and still get you good gas mileage. Or you could look at the second sticky in this section and use the link that is posted there...

thanks for the link... i deff. have alot of research ahead of me for this one. just did some quick surfing and don't know much about my 323's or protege's. so I have to learn all the abreviations. and what not. from the sounds of it there's a kia that has a lsd in it that fits the g-series tranny's.
