  • CV joint question. Guru needed.

I need to know what cars outter cv joints have the same spline count as our festys. I have a idea that will require custom axles and want to find a beefier outter joint than the Festys. Thanks guys.

    Aspires are the same.
Aspires and Sways all around, Miata B6 installed, KYB G2Rs just installed in front. Wish for coil overs someday.

Which spline count are you referring to? Are you referring to the outer spline count that mates with the steering knuckle, or are you referring to the inner spline count on the shaft that mates with the joint? Are you wanting to use the festiva axle shaft with a different outside joint?

I only need the outer joint. I am building a dream festy. Turbo b16. So far I have the mounts figured out and I was looking to take a honda axle and respline the outer end to accept a outer joint that will spline into the stock festiva hub thats bigger than the pencil thin one on the festy. WHy have a larger axle if theres a break point at the hub? Wiring and fuel are next on the block. I may never actually build it, but I really want to figure out how it was done.

The following information was taken from post 8 of this thread:

Here are some axle dimensions I have posted multiple times. Good for comparing axles from different cars.

festiva and aspire axles have an inboard spline count of 22 with an outboard spline count of 24. Lengths, for the festiva, are 23 7/8" and 34 5/8" left and right, respectively. Lengths, for the aspire, are 24 1/8" and 34 13/16" left and right, respectively.

Capri XR2 and 323GT have an inboard spline count of 26 with an outboard spline count 24. Lengths are 23 1/4" and 21 3/16" (not including intermediate shaft), left and right respectively.

Escort GT and 92-94 protege have inboard spline count of 26 but an outboard spline count of 26. Lengths are 23 15/16" and 24 3/8" (not including intermediate shaft), left and right respectively.

98+ kia sephia has an inboard spline count of 28 with an outboard spline count of 26. Lengths are 24 1/4" and 24 1/2" (not including intermediate shaft), left and right respectively.

90-94 323 have an inboard spline count of 24 with an outboard spline of 26. Lengths are 24 1/2" and 35 9/16", left and right respectively.

NA Capri and 86-89 323 has inboard spline count of 24 and an outboard spline count of 24. Lengths are 24" and 35", left and right respectively.

All axles were for cars with manual transmisions

That I do not know. I've wanting to get axles from all these cars to do some good solid research, but have not been able to do that yet. I am thinking there might be an easy way to get axles for the G-series tranny swap but I have yet to confirm it.

Type up a printable list w/years, e-mail it to me and I could pull most of the specs from work.
