  • Engine ID and some other Q's

Is there a way to determine between B3, B6 and maybe B5, by looking at the engine?

I have an 88 festiva that is on engine #3 with nearly 500k on the chassis. engine #1 is long gone and engines 2 and 3 were bought from japanese engine importers so their real identity is a mystery. engine #3 is blowing oil through the air cleaner so its about done. engine #2 is on a stand and im pretty sure only needs rings and valve seals. engine #2 always seemed a little more powerful than 1 or 3 so im thinking it may be a 1.6 but im not sure and i dont want to order wrong parts.

also is the difference in displacement due to bore or stroke, or a combination of the 2?
    88 Festiva, carb'd, 4 spd. nearing 500k and still gets 45mpg.

do you have any pics of the engines?

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?
