DOHC engine mounts coming soon

I'm currently making a DOHC B6 engine mount, and as I make it I'm constructing a jig so that I can reproduce them easily.
I'm currently making one from a converted festiva mount, but the ones I make will be totally from scratch with either a urethane or Delrin bushing, These will put the DOHC B6 or B6T in the stock location and will be a totally bolt on, plug and play application. I'll be ready to sell them as soon as I get the plastic to make the bushings.

I wasn't aware that a custom mount was needed. I purchased the plate Cam sells for the b6t swap(about 3 years ago) and it just bolts to the engine and the stock festie mount. Of course this assumes your still using the stock transmission. Are you going to make a one piece mount or a whole set? (motor and trans mounts). It would be nice to have a complete set of mounts with Urethane or delrin bushings in them... :wink:

For now I'm making he engine mount, after doing simons, I may switch to a bar extension similar to what Cam offered, as making the back half is kind of labor intensive, since I'm using 1/2 steel plate. A bar extension to the Capri mount would be far easier. Then again to save cost and time I could do like what I'm doing for Simon, make the back piece from scratch and mod the festiva mount to fit it. would save a lot of time for me not to have to source the bushing part.

delrin is some pretty solid stuff, doesnt wear easily either, we use it in alot of the conveyer belt systems we build for hormel in the machine shop at work... never thought to try to get some for use as an engine mount bushing though... good idea and good luck with your mounts! maybe someday someone will make BP mounts as well (or maybe once my idiot friend brings down the EGT i bought from him i can cut it up and fab up a few sets for use w/ g25/bp setups...)

delrin wouldnt be too solid would it? i mean that stuff is pretty hard to cut a sliver off a roll with a sharp knife even...

I finally got Simon's mounts done, I'll post pics later. They turned out really well, and I'm very pleased with them, so much so I almost kept them for myself. I made Simon's as two piece that come around from the back like the mounts FMS sells. If you guys want this style it will likely cost you about $150 and you will need to send me your stock festiva mount (the one that bolts to the car) as I haven't sourced a decent bushing yet. I have to charge that much because the mount is very labor intensive, although now I have made one, I don't need to design as I go, and I made a jig and cardboard mock-up to speed future mounts.

As an alternative to this mount, if you send me your stock Capri mount or a festiva mount, I can make you a bar extension style mount Ala Cam Waugh's for $80 I can do this style cheaper because I don't have to make the back mount which has to incorporate a mount for the front of the alternator bracket. Either one will put the DOHC B6 into the festiva with no fitment issues. This second style does not require you to remove the stock Capri mount, which pretty much entails changing the timing belt, so if you want to get that B6T in there fast, this would be the way to go.

Like I said, you will receive a very nice mount either way which will go right in, with NO issues.

depends on which style you want, either way I need you to send me the stock festiva mount the part that bolts through onto the car and has the bushing in it. after I receive it, it will take about a week, (i do have a life and this is done in my spare time) then I will send it back to you after I receive payment for it.
So most likely a week.

Due to the overwhelming need to have mounts to get a B6T into your festivas, and my own personal desire to make them for you kind people, I've decided to make the entire thing from scratch AND sell them for rock bottom price of $80, of course because I hand fabricate them, it will take me a week to fabricate it and get it to you. of course if you need one sooner then that FMS apparently can fulfill your needs immediately since they apparently have received shipment of 30 of their mounts, of course you will have to pay more for it....$150 :shock: boy that seems like a lot of money, but of course since we live in a free market economy the choice is yours. See how advantageous having some competition is to the consumer...Happy motoring. :lol:
