I pulled the engine & trans out of my 1990 Tiva because the clutch was shot and head gasket needed to be done. Since the engine is out, I'm going to have new rings, bearings & seals put in. Is there anything I should do while it is out that would improve the reliability or efficiency? This is just going to be a stock one, nothing too fancy. I just want to make the drivetrain reliable.
Also, I have a stock 5sp. Are there different ones? How do I ID? The clutch was wasted, but I don't know about the trans. What can i do to check it out? What is the cost for rebuild?
