  • B3 turbo fitting. Oil inlet for turbo.

I have a b3 engine fuel injection in a 1995 Kia pride and I am fitting a turbo. I would like to know from where on the engine, can I take an oil pressure line for the turbo. And can I weld the oil return pipe in the sump without removing the sump? I thought that draining the oil from the sump would do it. Any advice please?

    Thanks

Oil pressure sender? Get a T and tap from that.

or get one of those things that sit in betwen the oil filter and the block... just make sure you get the one WITH OUT a T-stat in it lol... i think this is a better idea cause you my drop your oil pressure alot and blow up your motor by taping in to the oil pressure port...

1/8" npt...if this part is tricky for you, (actually, the easiest part) what do you think will happen with the fumes when you try and weld a bung on a "still installed" oil pan?

i didnt ask about the bung, obviously oil/fuel fumes and a welder are not a good idea... i just wanted to know about the oil sending unit thread size for where it goes in the block so i can get some fittings together and not have to take it out whilt doing so

Here's a pic of my turbo drain into the fitting in the oil pan, it's just a brass 45 degree plumbing fitting with a 5/8" hose barb on it: click to enlarge

I have heard of people using a banjo bolt type fitting at the drain plug, they say it still drains as long as the turbo is above the oil line in the sump. Go to this site and check out the nice selection of fittings, for both the drain and oil feed choices:

what size is the fitting that you screwed in to the head to access the coolant?

It was a standard 1/8" npt pipe threaded brass barb. I drilled out the hole and and tapped it to accept that fitting. you can't trust that pressed in factory hose barb, it will just pull out. Tap was $5fitting was $3. A pipe thread tap is different than a regular tap the pipe tap is tapered all the way up. I also cut that bead end off the tube coming out of the coolant tube right underneath that fitting, cleaned it up and put a compression "L" on it and put the other hose barb on that fitting and pointed it at the turbo. And that's how I did the coolant circuit. You can just barely see them in this pic cause one hose obscures the other, but you can see the coolant in/out at the turbo as well as the oil line in:

And yeah, you where supposed to post pics of your set-up in that other post "what would cause my turbine shaft to break in two". Come on tell the truth, you didn't even run oil lines or coolant lines did you? Or you wouldn't be asking where to tap ALL this stuff in right now.
