  • engine/trans stuff...

alright... it's been ages since i have been on here, and i am still relatively new to festivas. what engines can be crammed in there? easier is better, as i am looking to make it quicker/more fun, but i haven't had to do a whole lot of work to the thing (and something that won't disintegrate the stock tranny would be nice). also, i have heard of people doing tranny swaps... what bolts in that is stronger? or is that all fabrication and shit?
are there any mods that can be made to a stock engine (B3? if i remember right), to give it more pep? or is that concept more or less a joke? it's an 1988 so it's running carbs. i know that limits me to what is usable without a ton of custom wiring. i KNOW there are more knowledgable folks on here than myself, which is why i am asking. thanks for anything you can share!

well honestly I think I know less then you but here's what I have found out (I think)... Mazda B-Series engine blocks are the same.
They started as a B1 (1000cc) then was bored out to a B3 (1300cc) and then came the B5 (1500cc) and eventually the B6 (1600cc) then someone decided to put a turbo on the B6 and they got a B6T motor.

SOHC and DOHC are still things I'm researching as I'm not sure whats on which engine.

Now the B6T can be found in a bunch of cars... Depending on which side of the planet you live on will decide the name of the car. Here in canada I believe it was the Mazda 323GT and Mercury Capri XR2... I dunno I'm still trying to locate one honestly.

First upgrade for the festiva I'd say is go out and get the Aspire rims and some decent tread. For quick zoom zoom options try www.festivamotorsport.com all I gotta say about them is sweeet!!!
I know I know... pull over

      You're learning, Demo!

Except the Aspire rims will require the Aspire suspension conversion.

Festiva wheels are 4 X 114.3mm while Aspires are the more common 4 X 100mm bolt pattern.

Get a set of Konig Theory wheels as they have the dual bolt pattern holes for both Festy and Aspire. Very convenient for before and after a swap.

Keep reading; there's a lot of info here.

that's really cool about the konigs... didn't know that. i have started acquiring stuff for the aspire brake swap, but only the bits for the front. it'll still be a while before i can jump up the rear...those wheels would more or less make it so i can mod the front end, and still manage to drive without looking retarded, or risk of damaging anything. theory.... i'll have to look into that. thanks!
